SERVICES

With a track record dating back to 2000, our flagship Rosetta trading program has been offered to qualified clients (see definition below) seeking diversification in the agricultural commodity futures and options sector.  Using our extensive network of contacts and 35+year market experience to formulate and vet potential trades, we strive to achieve long-term success on behalf of our clients.  Our trading programs are provided to clients in the form of separate managed accounts, and clients have full transparency into all open positions on a daily basis.

Trading methods are based on four decades of experience in many levels of commodity and derivative markets.  Rosetta Capital Management (RCM) has established an extensive network of contacts in all phases of the commodity and derivative markets, ranging from producers to pit brokers. This network yields an abundance of market information and includes access to internal and external meat, grain and weather research.  The ability to utilize such a unique compilation of market data is a significant competitive advantage.

Over time, RCM has continuously demonstrated the ability to adapt. In recent years, more controlled risk measures have been deployed to limit single trade draw downs.  One example is the more consistent use of purchasing options as a way to participate in directional markets moves, while having a defined risk amount for a given trade.  There is always a risk of loss associated with trading futures and options.  It is our job to try to minimize that risk and provide solid returns for our clients.

Whether embracing changes in market operations (the evolution of electronic trading from pit trading), identifying external forces that influence the markets (i.e. Chinese buying, South American production) or taking advantage of increases in futures trading volume, we pride ourselves in looking forward and not being complacent.

TRADING PROGRAMS

The Rosetta Trading Program is a fundamental discretionary grains and meats program.  Markets traded are primarily corn, soybeans (including soybean meal and soybean oil), live cattle, and lean hogs.  Trades are both relative value and directional depending on what the markets are rewarding.  Rosetta uses fundamental supply and demand factors such as inventory levels, government reports and information from producers/suppliers as well ans consumers.  This last input is sourced from a vast network of industry contracts developed over 30+ years in the industry.  In addition, technical analysis is used to help manage trades.

The Macro Trading Program is similar to the above mentioned Rosetta Trading Program, though markets traded extend to financial instruments, stock indices, currencies, precious metals, and energy products in addition to grains and meats

Jim Green is a founding principal of Rosetta Capital Management.  He and the late Michael Swinford registered RCM in May 1997.  Mr. Green is responsible for the management of all aspects of RCM’s operations and trading decisions.

Mr. Green’s agricultural experience began during his childhood on a grain and livestock farm in Henderson County in Western Illinois.   He attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance with a minor in Economics.  Mr. Green supported himself through college by working for DeKalb Ag Research. Upon graduation, he entered the DeKalb management training program and was quickly promoted to District Sales Manager.

In 1979, Mr. Green entered the Management Trainee Program at Heinold Commodities. After completion of the program he was appointed Regional Sales Manager of Heinold’s Central Region. He served in this position until 1985, when he accepted a position as National Sales Manager of Merchants Trading. At Merchants, he diversified his pursuits by establishing a retail business as well as expanding the firm’s local and introducing broker business.

In 1988, Mr. Green joined Balfour Maclaine as Senior Vice-President and returned its troubled Chicago operations to profitability. In December 1990, Mr. Green and Mr. Swinford, along with a group of colleagues, left Balfour Maclaine and founded the Livestock Division of Rosenthal Collins Group (RCG), a Chicago based Futures commission merchant. In February 1991, Livestock Division of Rosenthal Collins Group registered as a branch office of RCG with Mr. Green as its manager and associated person. In addition to his responsibilities with Rosetta Capital Management, Mr. Green is the manager of the Livestock Division of RCG and is still involved in his family's farming business.
